Dr. Barbara Kirkpatrick
Manager of the Environmental Health Program in the Ecotoxicology Center at Mote Marine Laboratory
DR. BARBARA KIRKPATRICK

Dr. Kirkpatrick is the Manager of the Environmental Health Program in the Ecotoxicology Center at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida. The Environmental Health Program focuses on the impacts of toxic substances on humans. Dr. Kirkpatrick is the state’s foremost researcher on Red Tide health effects. Her work includes human health studies to determine how people with chronic lung problems are affected by Florida red tides.

Her medical background gives the center a link between ecologically distributed toxic substances and public health concerns. Learn about Red Tide effects on healthy people and those with respiratory illness and what communities are doing to inform them at the Gulf Alliance Community workshops.

Dr. Kirkpatrick spoke in the State of the Gulf Conference and the Red Tide Workshop.
