LEE YOKEL

Network of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance. Funded through NOAA’s Office of Education via the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, she is hosted by the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Ms. Yokel’s primary responsibilities are addressing the Environmental Education actions of the Governors’ Action Plan. These duties may include coordinating various projects, educational working groups, interfacing with Alliance teams, and attending various meetings, workshops, and conferences. She participates on a number of local and regional committees. Currently, Ms. Yokel is coordinating the early stages of a Gulf wide public awareness campaign.

Ms. Yokel previously worked for the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program as their Education and Outreach Coordinator. Her work involved public relations, event organization, workshop development, special projects, website management and various educational opportunities. She has been intricately involved in several award winning programs including Estuary Live, Alabama Mississippi Rapid Assessment Team, and an EcoKids Activity Book.

Prior to and concurrent with some of her time with the Mobile Bay NEP, Ms. Yokel taught for Auburn University, the American Red Cross, and the University of South Alabama. Ms. Yokel has a BA in Anthropology from the University of Wyoming and MS in Geology from Auburn University. In a former life, Ms. Yokel worked in Cultural Resource Management as an archaeologist

Ms Yokel spoke in the State of the Gulf Conference
