REBECCA LAZENSKY
Becky Lazensky is a Florida Epidemic Intelligence Service (FL-EIS) fellow assigned to the Northeast Florida Consortium (Nassau, Clay, Baker, and St. Johns counties). Becky received her Bachelors of Science in Independent Studies in Global Health from Wheeling Jesuit University and a Masters of Public Health from Emory University. While serving as a FL-EIS fellow, Becky coordinated response activities during a red tide event in Nassau County, participated in a research study on the health effects of red tide, and assisted the Florida Department of Health's Aquatic Toxins Program with an analysis of blue-green algae rash reports.
Working in public health at a County Health Department provides Becky with opportunities to practice field epidemiology, investigate outbreaks of infectious disease, implement new surveillance networks, monitor and evaluate health programs, practice disaster preparedness and response, and work closely with the local community to reduce health disparities and disease trends.
